Robbery Attempt in Recoleta Leaves Woman Injured

A 28-year-old woman was shot in an attempted robbery in the Recoleta neighborhood of Buenos Aires. The incident took place on Friday at 11:10 PM at the intersection of Avenida Las Heras and Laprida, near the National Library and within a zone with significant buildings and government offices. The woman was approached by an armed criminal who was riding a bicycle and, after demanding her belongings, shot her in the leg as she tried to get away.

The victim, injured, managed to reach Rivadavia Hospital, located a few meters from where the incident occurred, to receive medical attention. She was later transferred to the Military Hospital to continue her treatment through a private health system. The City Police opened an investigation into the incident, classifying it as "attempted robbery and injury". Police officers are reviewing the security cameras in the area for clues to help identify the assailant.

The injured woman is in stable condition, although still affected both physically and emotionally by what happened. This incident has raised concerns in the Recoleta community, which has been the scene of several criminal events in recent weeks. Residents have reported the presence of homeless individuals who have formed informal groups in areas such as the National Library and around Rivadavia Hospital.

One of the most notable robbery cases in the area occurred in late January when three motorcycle thieves stole a bag containing 7 million pesos from Jaime Bullrich, cousin of the National Security Minister, Patricia Bullrich. The local community has expressed its concern over this wave of criminal incidents and has urged authorities to take action to ensure safety in the Recoleta neighborhood.
